Oh my gourd, Thanksgiving is this week! Where did November go? Since you already have enough to think about between the menu and visiting guests, we gathered a couple of ideas to help make your home feel warm, cozy, and fall festive. (The fourth tip is near and dear to our hearts.) Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Place Cards

If you have an abundance of photo frames you can repurpose for the day, print out pictures of your guests. Easier still? Run outside and grab some nature to use as place markers. Pinecones are always good for holding a small card, but in our opinion, some colorful leaves and a sharpie are as easy as it gets.

Gourd Bowls

Thanksgiving isn't complete without decorative squashes. Serve your small appetizers in hollowed out gourds. Super festive and saves room in the dishwasher later. Bonus: Roast the squashes for your turkey soup later in the week!! This recipe has a southwestern taste which will be a welcome departure to the usual Thanksgiving leftover recipes.

Kids Table

Happy kids are busy kids. Draw tic-tac-toe boards on blank paper and use them as placemats then fill a bowl of walnuts and chestnuts to use as markers. Alternately, cover the entire kiddie table with brown kraft paper and ask all the kids to make as many hand turkeys as they can. Award prizes for different categories like "silliest" or "most creative".

Build a Bar

If you don't already have a bar or don't have it in a place that makes sense for a sit-down meal, take the time to set up a nook for folks to mix and pour drinks. This will save you some of your host duties and you get to stock it with the stuff you don't mind sharing. If you have time, mix up a pitcher of Manhattans or a Thanksgiving Sangria for "cocktail hour". Once the pitcher is empty, folks will feel at ease enough to serve themselves.

The holiday season is a GREAT time to list your home! It's not too late to think about your next move and enjoy the holidays too. Ask us how!
