Local Spotlight: Mass Save Program
This week, Erik and Randal chat with Bill Stack, Eversource Energy Efficiency Spokesperson. Bill walks us through all the ways you can improve the comfort and efficiency of your home with the help of the Mass Save® Program.
Erik: Welcome to Stay Focused, Focus Real Estates weekly video blog. I'm Erik.
Randal: I'm Randal.
Erik: We have the great honor of being with Bill Stack from Eversource who is the energy efficiency spokesperson for Eversource in Mass Save.
Bill: That's right, I am.
Erik: Thank you for joining us.
Bill: Thank you so much. I really appreciate being here.
Erik: In Massachusetts, there are great programs for homeowners through the Mass Save program in which Eversource is a sponsor and other utility companies as well from what I understand.
Bill: Exactly. Mass Save was a collaboration of all the electric and gas utilities in energy efficiency service providers. That's more down the cave where we provide a vast array of programs, incentives, and rebates for homeowners and commercial, but more homeowners specific today where we try and help the energy efficiency homeowners improve the energy efficiency in their home.
Randal: When you get that little letter about your energy efficiency compared to your neighbor, do you always get that out and say, "Can you make me better than ..."
Erik: Look it, you really need some help here.
Bill: We get a lot of feedback on that both positive and negative.
Erik: But it works.
Bill: It does.
Erik: From a behavior's perspective.
Bill: It creates an awareness like, "What am I doing differently than the person next door? What steps can I take?" Sometimes it costs money to upgrade equipment or add insulation. Sometimes it's just behavioral. Our Home Energy Service program, our HES program, it's a great opportunity for someone just moving in, if they haven't quite moved their things in yet, they have an energy specialist come to their home from the attic down to the basement. We look at insulation levels, look at heating equipment, water heating equipment, electronics, appliances, you name it, anything using energy in the home. They'll get a live report as to what improvements are suggested, what program they can participate in, and how many dollars would be available to help them in that area.
Erik: What else would be good for our viewers to know about Mass Save and Eversource's programs?
Bill: If you go to MassSave.com, you can take a look at a home energy assessment online if you can do it to see just where you think you might have some needs. Then, contact us. We'll follow up scheduling with Home Energy Assessment where, again, that professional will come out to your house.
Randal: Thanks so much for joining us. We really appreciate your insight.
