Our Picks for July 4th Events near Jamaica Plain
We know that the Boston Area's usual trend is to flock south, sit in traffic before the Sagamore Bridge, and spend the 4th on the Cape. (Hey Cape-goers! Here's when Waze says you should travel!) However, for those of you that are sticking around the city, there's plenty of 4th of July fun happening right here.

18th Century Chocolate Making Demonstrations

Stop in for a sweet treat at the historic North End church that played a very important part in America's independence. Courtesy of Captain Jackson's Historic Chocolate Shop, you're welcome to taste, touch, and interact with costumed interpreters. Don't forget cash as donations are welcome!
July 4 SAILabration Fundraiser

Bring your July 4th game up a couple of notches and watch the Boston fireworks without the hassle of the Esplanade crowds. Although tickets are pricey, the admission includes music, kids activities, and a cookout. Plus, proceeds from the event help fund the Junior and Universal Access Programs. These programs allow youths and those with handicaps the opportunity to learn sailing.

Enjoy the beauty of Boston Harbor as it prepares for it's famous 4th of July celebration from the gently rocking deck of a schooner. Definitely book this now if you're interested! They also offer firework cruises for a bit more money.
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
- Date: Sunday & Monday, July 3rd & 4th
- Time: Sunday: 5pm - 10pm, Monday 7pm-11pm
- Location: Boston Esplanade
It just wouldn't be a Boston 4th of July list if the Pops wasn't on it! If you're ready to brave the masses on Monday, get ready to rock out with Little Big Town, Demi Lovato, and Nick Jonas. If you're only interested in the Pops, head over a day early to hear them rehearse. You may miss out on the fireworks, but you'll avoid the crowds.
4th of July at Home
If you'd rather stay at home with a glass of wine, we don't blame you! The Boston fireworks will be broadcast on CBS starting at 7pm. Also, if you need a little instant patriotism, you should watch this incredibly soulful rendition of the national anthem at the Lincoln Memorial.
