Deciding on a brokerage to help you buy or sell real estate? Randal and Erik discuss the advantages of hiring a local or Independent Brokerage.


Erik:
Why hire an independent brokerage? Stay tuned.

Randal:
An independent brokerage is a brokerage that's locally owned and operated and does not answer to shareholders in other states, countries, cities, what have you.

Erik:
All the decisions are made locally. The work is done locally and the money stays locally in the community. And that's the big thing.

Randal:
And that's the big what, but why? So why would you want to hire somebody that works for, or is a locally owned, independent brokerage? Well, that's pretty easy actually.

Erik:
Yeah, there's lots of good reasons.

Randal:
I think one of the big reasons, and one of the reasons that encouraged us to open up Focus Real Estate is that the internet it's a humongous equalizer.

Erik:
What Randal means by, it's an equalizer is our listings are on all the national and international real estate websites and search engines. So it can be local and have the same level of exposure.

Randal:
Next, we're really flexible. We're adaptive and responsive. So, when you're looking for somebody to adjust to the changes in the real estate market and making sure that you are getting the best up-to-date service with exactly what is needed in the market today, the locally owned ones are amazing. We don't get mired down in-

Erik:
Corporate policy-

Randal:
Corporate policy.

Erik:
Procedures.

Randal:
And I think this was a really good example of how local real estate agencies can really benefit from that flexibility during the COVID-19 crisis. We all regrouped, re-figured it out and moved forward because that's what the clients want, that's what our sellers wanted. That's what our buyers wanted.

Erik:
How do we do it for them?

Randal:
Yeah. And who you work with really matters. When you're out there in the marketplace, who you work with matters. You want to work with someone that's flexible, adaptive, has the tools.

Erik:
Listens to your needs.

Randal:
Has the expertise to really help you get to your goals. That's what we're really finding the most important.

Erik:
The bottom line, real estate is still local. So work with someone who is local, your expert, and can listen to you.
