What Is JP Open Studios?

JP Open Studios is an open-studio event where local artists open their workspaces to the public, inviting art lovers, neighbors, and curious visitors to step behind the scenes into their creative process. Wikipedia+1 Organized by the Jamaica Plain Arts Council (JPAC), it has grown into a beloved community arts tradition. JP Open Studios

Over the weekend, visitors can stroll through multiple sites across JP — private studios, shared group venues, community centers, or businesses hosting local artists. thebostoncalendar.com+2JP Open Studios+2 It’s a chance to meet the artists, see works in progress, and even purchase art directly. thebostoncalendar.com+1

Why You Should Visit?

  1. Experience art where it’s made
There’s something special about seeing an artist’s workspace — tools, sketches, works-in-progress — giving context to the final pieces you’ll see.

  2. Meet the people behind the art
Conversations between artist and audience lead to richer appreciation, stories, and connections.

  3. Support local creatives
Buying directly from creators helps them sustain their work. Plus, the event bolsters the local arts ecosystem in JP.

  4. Explore the neighborhood
While you're hopping between studios, you’ll get a feel for the character of Jamaica Plain — its streets, public art, hidden corners.

  5. Free & inclusive
The event is open to all, with no admission fee.
