Randal and Erik discuss the qualities of a great real estate agent.

Erik:
Have you ever wondered what are the qualities that make for a great real estate agent? Stay tuned.

Randal:
What makes for a great real estate agent?

Erik:
And we have our focus five.

Randal:
And there's probably more than five, but I think these are really important five. And this is really geared towards a couple of things. First of all, we are certainly looking for really great people to join our team. And so a lot of people ask us like, what are the things that you're looking for-

Erik:
Right.

Randal:
... when you're looking for that agent to join your office? I mean, we aren't about just numbers of people. We're about quality people that are committed to helping other people.

Erik:
And that's the big thing. Committed to helping others, number one. And in order to help others, you have to be able to listen to them.

Randal:
Yeah.

Erik:
And be able to respond to them needs.

Randal:
The second one is, as you can possibly imagine being self employed, you have to be self-driven. You have to be disciplined and focused and really get up, have your schedule, get to work. A lot of people have a hard time with that.

Erik:
Real estate agents are independent contractors, so you don't have a boss who's telling you what you need to do, when you need to do it. So you have to have some of that ability to structure your life and have that discipline. And along those lines, being coachable, willing to learn, willing to grow.

Randal:
And not just learning from us, but learning from each other. One of the things that we find incredibly valuable with the agents that are working in our office, is what they learn from each other. Even agents that have just started, what they learn from each other and the experience they get by being out with people and having conversations.

Erik:
And we know it's an ever changing world up there and business, so being able to be coachable, learn and adapt.

Randal:
And adaptable, yep.

Erik:
Right.

Randal:
Number four, we're going to have to say something we can't teach, energy. You have to have energy.

Erik:
Yep. Who wants to work with, flat agents. Someone who doesn't have enthusiasm about helping them out, showing their homes.

Randal:
Anyway, so energy is one thing that we can't teach that you have to come naturally to you, but that's really an important part of being a real estate agent.

Erik:
And number five.

Randal:
One of the things that we're discovering more every day.

Erik:
Life experience.

Randal:
A rounded life experience. We're finding that people that have a breath of experience from other jobs, community support...

Erik:
Involvement.

Randal:
... involvement with their families, involvement in their neighborhoods.

Erik:
In their community.

Randal:
Hey, even some involvement doing some home repairs, knowing homes, that kind of well rounded personality is really super helpful to clients. I really believe that that experience helps you be empathetic and understand what other people are going through. So these really are kind of a circular path and they all work together.

Erik:
All works together-

Randal:
It all works together.

Erik:
... and making for a great package, of the great agent, to help the buyers and sellers out.

Randal:
That's our five things that, oh, did I say five things? Oh my God, I did. Five things that make for a great real estate agent. Thanks for watching everybody. If you have any questions about this, or if you have any interest in becoming a real estate agent and working in this field.

Erik:
Drop us a line, give us a call.

Randal:
Until next time, stay tuned and stay focused.

Erik:
Stay tuned and stay focused.

Randal:
I should've had more coffee.

Erik:
Jump, jump, jump, jump.

Randal:
Well, the last one I was like, oh my God. I was a nut in the last one.
