How to Prepare Your Home For Sale

Sell For More This Spring

Gretchen:
Although the weather outside may be frightful, if you're looking to sell in 2021, the spring market will be delightful. Stay tuned.

Gretchen:
One again, the experts are predicting that the spring market is going to be a sellers market. We have low interest rates and low supply. So, together, that means that homes are going to go for top dollar. So, what can you do between now and the spring to make sure that your home is in the condition it needs to be, to get multiple offers and appeal to a wide range of buyers?

Gretchen:
First, consult with your agent to determine whether or not there are any home improvement projects you should be starting. Now, the reason it's so important to get a jump on them right now is that some building supplies, materials, and appliances are actually on back order. When people were staying at home during the pandemic, a lot of people engaged in home improvement projects, and some manufacturing facilities shut down. So, as a result, it may take you longer right now to get the supplies you need, or the appliances you want to replace.

Gretchen:
The other thing that you can work on with your agent is organizing and decluttering your home. Now, tackling a whole home at once to get it ready for the market can be overwhelming. But, right now, if you take the time to declutter and depersonalize your space, by the time you go on market, you're going to have a simplified, more inviting atmosphere for buyers. So, take the time to do it now, one room at a time. Or give yourself a few weeks for that attic, or garage that you've been shoving everything into, since you moved into the home.

Gretchen:
The third thing that you can consider doing right now with your agent is evaluating whether or not you need any staging supplies for your home. So, do you need to bring in some extra furniture or different furniture? Do you need decorative items? Believe it or not, the agents right now need to start reserving these types of items with their preferred designers to make sure that the designers are not booked up before the spring arrives.

Gretchen:
So, if you have questions about this, or any other real estate related questions, give me a call, I'm here to help. And until then, stay tuned and stay focused.
